Abstract

Pictographic tale is a tool used by early childhood educators to encourage language development. They are based on tales that are complemented by images that allow a greater understanding of the context. This research analyzes the importance of the application of pictographic tales for language development in 3-year-old children. For this purpose, a quantitative research was proposed that was applied through an observation sheet to 27 3-year-old children, who attended the Centro de Desarrollo Infantil Perpetuo Socorro in the city of Cuenca during 2019. The data of the sample were compared with the results of the application of the observation sheet in children during 2018, in which the tool of the pictographic tales was not applied. The results show a higher language development in the levels of pronunciation and elocution when the aforementioned technique is used. It concludes on the importance of including pictographic tales for the development of language in 3-year-old children.
